Dr. Biswajit Mohapatra is an Associate Professor, specializing in Politics and International Relations in the Dept of Political Science, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, India where he also directs research programmes in International Relations .He holds a Ph.D.& MPhil in International Relations from the Jawaharlal Nehru University of India, Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Delhi and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Political Science from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. Besides he has also attended the Advanced International Programme in Conflict Resolution (PACS) at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University,Sweden and School of Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation Course,conducted by AMAN and Payap University,Thailand, focussed on conflict analysis and prevention, peace building and understanding peace and conflict in varied local, regional and international contexts..

He has written two books, viz., i) Informatics For Peace & Development in South Asia: Perspectives Of SAARC (ISBN 978-3-8473-2303-7) & ii) New Information Technologies, India And The North-South Relations (ISBN 978-3-8473-3045-5) and published extensively on International Relations and Look East/ Act East, South East Asia, China and North East India in peer reviewed journals both in India and abroad and have presented papers in various national and international seminars and conferences.

He has also visited a number of foreign countries in connection with his academic assignments. His broad research tracks are : Politics, International Relations and Comparative Politics; particular research interests include, India’s Foreign Policy, China Studies • China-South East Asia Relations • Indo Pacific Security and Contemporary Territorial and Maritime Disputes.

He has been appointed as the Coordinator ASEAN Study Center, NEHU. This center was first announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 13th ASEAN-India Summit, November 21 to 22, 2015, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and subsequently, it was formally launched in the university on August 8th, 2016.
